Burgundy France Wine Tasting (Part 1)

So if you are a wine connoisseur or just a casual wine drinker you may have heard the names Romanee Conti or Liger Belair, which are some of the Hermes of wines both from a region called Vosne-Romanee the Beverly hills of burgundy wine regions.

Romanee Conti is possibly one of the best and most expensive burgundy wines in the world with prices ranging from $800 to north of $39,000 a bottle that too if you are lucky enough to find one.

DRC or Domain Romanee Conti has history going back to the Romans that produces less than 6000 cases of wine a year with less than 600 cases of La Romanee Conti.

We flew on Delta airlines into Paris CDG and returned back out of Nice Airport into JFK both on a Non stop flight using 75,000 miles plus approx. $65 in taxes for this multi segment itinerary.

From CDG we rented a car using SIXT Car rental and drove to a town called Mercury where we had rented a Castle. It was a pretty drive through the countryside of France and took us approx. 5 hours from CDG. The Castle which was through Kasteliades Castles called Chateau de Mercury was a typical French Rustic Castle which we found directly on their website. Christophe Gay who is the owner of the Castle was extremely accommodating also gives you a wine tour as well as tastings from his private cellar which had a collection of thousands of wines from all over the world.  We opted for a premium package where we had the opportunity to taste a 1978 Chateau Margaux.
